Leeds vs West Ham

Patrick Bamford (£6.1m) is a must have for the Christmas period of fixtures, as Leeds host West Ham, Newcastle and Burnley at Elland Road and also face a visit to the Hawthornes against West Brom. Bamford is currently the second best value option on the game, with a season value score of 11.5, with only Kurt Zouma bettering this (12). No player has had more attempts (43) and shots inside the box (38) this season in the entire game.

No team has had more shots inside the box than Leeds this season (113), which highlights how effective Bielsa’s system is in bringing the best out of Bamford. Leeds are also impressing on the chance creation front this season , as they are creating a chance every 6.5 minutes, fourth highest in the league.

Southampton vs Sheffield United

Danny Ings (£8.3m) announced his return with a goal on Monday night, coming on as a second half substitute and is a massive boost for Southampton going into the Christmas period. Southampton have a promising run of fixtures, with a trip to the Emirates, Craven Cottage and also have home games against Manchester City and West Ham.

Having scored a brace against Spurs earlier on this season and scoring against Chelsea, Ings has shown that he’s ‘fixture proof’ this season. The appeal of Ings is also strengthened by the fact that he is Southampton’s first choice penalty taker. Ings has averaged 6.9 points per game this season, highlighting how consistent Ings has been this season, on the back of a 22 goal season last year.

Crystal Palace vs Spurs

Hugo Lloris (£5.5m) is the final pick for this week’s recommendations. Spurs have had an incredible start to the season, and have consistently performed against the big teams so far, beating Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal. Spurs have kept 5 clean sheets this season, 3 of which came against top 6 sides.

Spurs have conceded the second fewest big chances this season (12) and the fourth fewest shots on target (35), highlighting the success in which Mourinho has had this season on implementing his style of football, which will translate into clean sheets for the rest of the season.

Over the hectic Christmas schedule, Lloris is the safest pick out of the Spurs defence to choose from as it’s almost a certainty that he won’t need to be rested. Mourinho strengthened over the summer and now has good depth in both centre back and full back positions. He can afford to rest players when necessary, which will come at the expense of FPL points for Reguilon and Eric Dier for instance, but not for Lloris.
