23:42: Just seen a picture of Taika on Instagram. Remembered he let his kids shave his glorious head of hair off. Haven’t forgiven him yet but I’m doing this anyway, armed with tea and chocolate.
23:51: If Taika doesn’t do commentary on the Marvel opening credits, I don’t want it. Evidence:
00:01: He is sporting a wonderful hat. All is forgiven. We’re going to pick rosemary together so he can cook for his family. This is adorable and almost as chaotic as Thor: Ragnarok.
00:10: We’ve got concept art for Miek in Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as New Asgard. Nice legs, Miek. Taika also showed us the script he’s been working on, where Tony and Thor are reunited... so whether any of this art is real at all is anyone's guess - but it seems far too detailed and professional to be fake.
00:12: We’re all watching Ragnarok now. The skeleton trapped in the cage with Thor at the start of the film is called Derek – leaning key information here, people. Taika has also teased at Korg returning for the next film! “It wouldn’t be a Thor adventure without Korg now”.
00:17: One of my favourite scenes where Thor busts his way out to Led Zepplin. “This is where we paid $65m to have Immigrant Song” – it was worth every penny.
00:20: Instagram Live question: “Who smells better, Chris Hemsworth or Anthony Hopkins?”
Taika: “Hopkins, he smells like tulips”
00:27: Instagram Live question: “Who will Christian Bale play in Love and Thunder?” Taika: “*Pretends to glitch up* I can’t wait to see him in that role”.
For god’s sake.
00:35: Someone finally asked about Loki in Love and Thunder and Taika said he can’t comment… I. Am. So. Excited.
00:39: Tessa Thompson (who played Valkyrie in Ragnarok) has joined! She’s cooking stir-fry – this is more of a cooking show now.
00:48: Looking like Love and Thunder is almost written, confirmed that they’re four or five drafts into the script now – Tessa to be in the film! “It makes Ragnarok seem like a very run-of-the-mill, safe film… like we asked a bunch of 10-year-olds what should be in a movie and they said yes to every single thing”. Thor sounds like he'll be along for the ride with the Guardians and there'll be... space sharks?
N.B: I’ve done my research. They have a connection to the Chitauri, Loki’s army in Avengers Assemble – and have enough strength to knock Thor around, so space sharks could be the new army.
1:05: Tessa’s gone to eaten her stir-fry, Mark Ruffalo has joined, gushing over Taika winning an Oscar for JoJo Rabbit (apparently he keeps it in the bank).
1:18: Taika and Mark are forming a tribe so we can all learn life skills during quarantine. Taika’s teaching sewing. It’s called Down and Out Max: Dreary Road. I’m joining, anyone else?
So - we didn't get to watch much of Ragnarok. But we learnt a fair bit about Love and Thunder to tide us over for now - even if lockdown does push the release date forward. But I, for one, can't wait.
