Mark Ruffalo is no stranger to playing two roles at once but in his latest role he sadly he won’t be turning into a massive green monster. Instead, he will be playing a pair of twins in the new HBO show I Know This Much Is True, based on the best-selling novel by Wally Lamb.
The same actor playing twins is not unheard of and has been done by Tom Hardy in Legend and Lindsey Lohan in The Parent Trap. On television, the most impressive example of this is Orphan Black with Tatiana Maslany playing several roles at once. So this new show isn’t doing something particularly new but it will be exciting to see Ruffalo being given the opportunity to show his acting skill beyond turning green and angry.
The show is a family saga following their parallel lives in a story of betrayal and sacrifice
The six-episode long show is set to follow two twins, Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, and is a family saga following their parallel lives in a story of betrayal and sacrifice. It will be set in 20th century America so prepare for a healthy dose of retro vibes. Alongside Ruffalo, the show will star Rosie O’Donnell, Melissa Leo, and Bruce Greenwood so there are definitely a few big names to be excited for.
Ruffalo won’t just be starring in the show as he is also an executive producer and is making it in partnership with FilmNation Entertainment, the people behind The Big Sick and Arrival.
The show is set to air May 10th on HBO in the US. The UK will be able to watch it the following day on May 11th on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
