The ‘Strictly Curse’ strikes again this year as Seann Walsh and Katya Jones were caught kissing – or what looked to me like a full on make-out session - after a drunken night out together. Awkward, right? Especially when Katya Jones is currently married to Neil Jones, another fellow dancer. At the time, Walsh was also dating his now ex-girlfriend, Rebecca Humphries.

After the exposure, both Jones and Walsh made an appearance on It Takes Two to address the affair, Jones “[apologising] to everyone it hurt and it involved.” Katya then went on to state how the main thing for her is that “[her] and Neil are fine.” Sadly, Walsh cannot say the same. Yet, despite this attempt to address the matter, fans on Twitter did not believe it, deeming the interview altogether uncomfortable and false.
So, should they have been kicked off the show? Personally, I think not. Although these two are the first to get caught this year, whose to say other dancers aren’t also getting together behind the scenes? How could you not with the sexy moves they’re made to do. Also, on top of this, a pair’s survival in the show should not be based off their actions outside their dancing; judge whether they can dance, not whether they’re ‘getting it on’ in rehearsal.

But, despite this, the pair have definitely created a media storm. And it’s clearly affected dynamics as in the following two weeks after the scandal the pair have been seen actively avoiding one another in the background of Strictly; didn’t think we’d notice? Think again!

We will have to wait and see if anything else comes of this scandal, but in the meantime Strictly Come Dancing airs every Saturday at 6.45pm. Go watch and see if you too can sense the awkwardness radiating off Walsh and Jones.
