St Patrick’s Day is nearly upon us, and Newcastle University Irish Dance Society is bringing the North East the perfect way to prepare for the celebrations.
On Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of March, their annual show ‘Treble on the Tyne’, will be taking place in Venue, the basement of the Students’ Union.
Due to popular demand and a sell-out show last year, the event will take place on 2 separate nights this year. The doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. With amazing raffle prizes on offer, a live band and even a photobooth for all of your Instagram needs, it’s set to be one of the best University events this year.
The Irish Dance Society’s President, Hannah Lindsay, said ‘We work hard throughout the year towards putting on a show that’s got a great atmosphere, with traditional and modern dancing and music. Every penny we make goes to Streetwise and Crisis, so we’d love as many people as possible to come!’
This event has been organised to showcase the society’s talent, getting everyone in high spirits in time for St. Patrick’s Day. All dances are choreographed and taught by students, with abilities ranging from beginner to advanced. All money raised from show tickets, raffle tickets and donations goes towards helping the local community, with the two chosen charities being Streetwise and Crisis.
Tickets are only £6 and go on sale on Saturday 15 February
