The NBA playoffs are here. After a shortened regular season, all the stars are ready to take the court and compete for the championship. The new format of the play-in tournament, the very surprising seeding of some teams, what can we expect about those playoffs.

This season has seen the new incorporation of a play-in tournament that was supposed to make the end of the regular season more interesting. And it succeeded.

The end of season was absolutely crazy. Barely any team tanked to get a high lottery pick.

Thanks to this tournament, even the 10th seed have a chance to make the playoffs which forced teams to play until the very end of the season.

Even if this was critiqued by few players and teams such as Lebron James, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks organisation.

Overall, this was a great idea and it even could offer us a Steph vs Lebron in a one game elimination – aka a must watch game where the TV audiences will go crazy.

Following this, when we look up the rankings this season was full of underdogs stories. The New-York Knicks, Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns really took the league by storm and exceeded everyone expectations.

They will be very interesting to watch in the playoffs. Especially the two western teams, that will likely play Golden State and/or the Lakers.

These two series could create a big surprise as soon as the first round.

On the other hand, some teams did not finish where they were predicted to. The Boston Celtics struggled all year long to find a balance with their young superstars.

Being in the play-in tournament is a massive under achievement for team that went to the Conference Finals last year.

The level of difficulty they will have to go through if they make the playoffs will be one of the hardest in the league.

This season’s playoffs are surrounded by an excitement that we haven’t seen in years.

The league has never so open to any team to win the championship and it feels.

Even if there are obvious favourites in Brooklyn and the Lakers, those organisations finished the season on a bad form.

And against great basketball teams like the 76ers, Jazz or Nuggets they could miss out on winning it all. This is without counting the teams that can catch fire like the Warriors, Heat, Clippers or even Blazers.
