Ah, Turner Court. Nothing says a 'uni experience' like being harassed by people in your building. As much as I'd like to say that first sentence is a joke, it certainly isn't.
From freshers to fleeing home for lockdown, I was lucky enough to call Turner Court my home. My experience was... interesting to say the least. When I applied for my accommodation my first choice was, like everyone else, Park View. Alas, it wasn't to be. Somehow I must have missed the Park View entrance exam or something because I landed in Turner Court (that wasn't even one of my choices).
When people asked what accomodation I lived in and I told them Turner Court, their reaction was one of the following:
The one saving grace in all of this is I had Hattie to share this 'fun' experience with. The staff working there are lovely, yet the distance from campus combined with the migraine yellow wall I lived with just doesn't outweigh the positives. Do I even have to mention the fact that the 'living area' doesn't even have a TV or seated table? For the price you pay, its just not worth it.

I actually met Kayleigh whilst living in Turner Court, and thank god I did because at least it gives me something good to say about it. From walking into your kitchen to see strangers sleeping on your sofa (so of course you make as much noise as possible whilst making coffee) to trekking over to Park View to cook a microwave meal in your mates flat (because you dread the thought of touching anything in your own kitchen, particularly those crusty noodles), it's fair to say this place didn't have the best impact on my mental health.
Well, at least they let me move rooms. Although their first suggestion was quite literally the flat around the corner - can you even image the awkward run-ins?? but I was still stuck with that dreaded orange 'feature' wall in the kitchen. I'm not even joking. Don't get me started on the lime green bedrooms.
If you happen to be in Turner this year then I'm sorry. The staff are lovely, but other than that... Well, I'll just say the security and night staff are quite good too.
