Don’t worry- I didn’t know what a soapbox car was either going into the show! They can also be called gravity racers, and are basically homemade cars with no motors that you throw yourself down a hill in to win a race. This was such a fun story line for this show, and something I haven’t seen in theatre before!
The story champions female teenage friendships, something which are often seen as silly and superficial in mainstream media and was really lovely to see. Kay’s struggles with her relationships and friendships is something we can all relate to from the awkwardness of our teenage years.

The costume and set themselves are enough to make you smile, with Kay being dressed in fabulous colourful dungarees and crocs. The acting, script and direction feels just as colourful as Kay’s amazing outfit.
