We all know trends tend to spiral, what’s hot now will be back in 10 years and was already big 20 years ago. With that being said here are my predictions for 2025’s biggest rising trends:

  1. AI art is definitely going to make an appearance in the coming year. We‘re already seeing it a bit at the tail end of this year so this point feels a bit like cheating, but AI art is, regardless of how you feel about it, definitely going to be popping up in the new year. I also think there will be a rise in virtual art spaces, art, and art galleries moving online while still trying to protect themselves from AI will, I think, be a big discussion for us all to have next year.
  2. Big art! I think 2025 will be the year of big art, paintings and sculptures made huge, to fit gardens and walls rather than coffee tables and stickers like we’ve seen this year. To be honest, I am so ready for big, colourful art in 2025 that you can’t ignore.
  3. Lastly, 2025 will be a big year for texture. Prints, colours, fabrics, all with a little bit of unusual texture thrown into the mix. Let’s get tactile, let’s get interesting in our texture choices especially when it comes to art. I also think this will come as a response, conscious or otherwise, to the rise in digital and AI art.

So that‘s my list. I think it will be interesting to see how art trends develop in the coming year, especially as AI becomes more mainstream and as political spaces become more extreme.
