A sunny, summer Newcastle is right around the corner so everyone will be thinking about their after-assessment plans. The most obvious plan will be a trip to Tynemouth, you can make sure to bring your swimsuits and a picnic, maybe a portable barbeque or something to make a bonfire with. A long day at the beach is the perfect medicine for post-exam relief or pre-exam stress.
Another fun activity is definitely the multiple markets that Newcastle has to offer, there are markets every Sunday on the Quayside (a personal favourite) with local businesses selling second-hand clothing, music and DVDs as well as many food trucks. There are also the weekly Ouseburn and Tynemouth markets which highlight small businesses, such as Mia Rose, for prints, you can find anything and everything at these markets and they are all perfect for a chill day out while you wind down from exams.

If you have a car and are fancying taking a bit of a road trip, an hour and a half away from Newcastle is Holy Island. There's lots to do there; visiting the castle or the heritage centre, taking a walk up to the lookout where you can see Bamburgh Castle or going for a long walk around the island to the white pyramid. There are also lots of nice shops in the village that you can browse as well as some nice pubs where you can get a cheap pint.
Something a bit closer to home for those who like a drink after exams is of course the Quayside, there are plenty of bars for bottomless brunch and lovely beer gardens on either side of the Tyne. As well as the lovely Quayside spoons for a cheaper drink. There is also the Baltic Art Gallery which has free entry for those who want a sober activity.
