For most of us, semester three has minimal teaching but is the most assignment- and exam-dense time of year. Despite the weather, the beer garden and beach might be taking a backseat, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend this term in the library. There’s plenty on around campus, outside your academics, to go to and take a break other than a trip to Co-Op.

All semester - various performances - Northern Stage

If you’re yet to see a performance at campus’ Northern Stage, there is something for everyone over the next few months: from poetry in performance to comedic plays, celebrations of the Beatles’ music to a pub quiz. Students can get concession tickets with their NUSU card and discount at the Café Bar (which serves amazing food and drink), so if you need an evening of distraction, take a look at what’s on and see local talent shine.

All semester - various events - Give It A Go

Whether you want a casual game of a sport like badminton or dodgeball, or want to relax with social gaming, Give It A Go gives all students access to taster sessions hosted by different societies at NUSU. They’re usually on campus and are free to attend - you can see a full list of upcoming Give It A Go events here.

From 11-4, Northumbria SU will be filled with over 30 curated vintage sellers’ stalls, with designer pieces, discount bins, customisable jewellery, and tooth gems, as well as cake stalls and a DJ. It’s only over the road from the Marj, and if you’re quick, you can grab a free ticket here.

Tuesday, 6th May 2025 - Tote Bag Painting, Martin Luther King Room, NUSU

If you want to switch your brain off and be creative, you can book to join a chilled-out session of painting in NUSU. All materials are provided, and it’s just £1 for the three hours.
