Best upcoming indie games

These upcoming Indies are worth a look!

In a world where many AAA's are cash-grabbing slop, indie games make up the backbone of modern videogaming and its community. As an avid metroidvania fan (think Hollow Knight and Ori) my most anticipated indie of 2026 was MIO: Memories In Orbit, which I quickly discovered due to backwards compatibility I could not play. Though, as devastated as I was, I was quickly distracted by discovering there's still plenty of amazing titles coming up over the next year!

Psychotic Bathtub

Any game that has advertises among its features being able to 'Drown Jesus' is certainly one to watch! Boasting gorgeous hand drawn graphics, multiple endings and a story about a woman struggling with a psychotic disorder sitting in her bathtub, this title seems to lean more towards being an experience than a stereotypical game. More than that, it is donating 50% of profits to mental health projects, and aims to de-stigmatize the disorders touched on within, meaning that this will definitely be a worthy purchase.

At Fate's End

They made Spiritfarer, and as such the return of Thunder Lotus Games with a brand new title, At Fate's End, isn't something that any of us should ignore. Promising an emotional, family-driven narrative as well as intricate puzzles and a developing story that moves with the player as they progress through the world, At Fate's End seems to take all the empathy and personality of its predecessor and dial it up still further. This will definitely be making its way onto my wishlist and staying right near the top.

Decrepit

Decrepit's core gameplay loop appears to be that you run around in a castle, fight your way through enemies and eventually, uh, get killed? With each death, you respawn somewhere else, forcing you to get familiar with your surroundings, master the combat, and learn how to forge a path forwards in your environment. Seeming to be tough but fair, if you're a Dark Souls or a Hades fan, this quirky combination of the two is probably exactly what you need.
