Ouseburn Market is perfect for a spring day out, with local traders selling everything from handmade fudge to vintage clothes and Pokémon prints only a 25 minute walk from campus. If you want to experience the arty side of Newcastle in one place, while being able to pick up some fuel in the form of German hotdogs or iced coffee, the market is your best bet.

Speaking of dogs, the markets are pet friendly and every size of dog is around

Speaking of dogs, the markets are pet friendly and every size of dog is around. I spotted a stall offering treats like pigs ears and milk bones leading to a lot of wagging tails from the customers. If you want to splurge and support local artists you should have a browse. For example I saw some gorgeous pieces; handmade ceramic fridge magnets for a fiver and stunning mosaic mirrors for £30.

But be warned, the markets are fast moving and crowded so getting there early at mid-morning is a good idea to beat the afternoon rush and don’t forget to check the weather. As we all know British weather likes to switch up quick, you don’t want to be huddling under a marquee holding a hotdog. The markets are on monthly with the next one being held on the 14&15th of June with free entry, hope to see you there.
