The pub crawl is a classic part of uni life, and this Halloween you do not want to miss out on the fun. While you could pay for events like the Newcastle ‘Fright Crawl’ on the 29th of October, I’ve put together a budget-friendly route to maximise your nights out in Newcastle this Hallo-week.

If you're starting your evening in the city centre, the obvious choice would be the iconic Mile Castle Wetherspoons. Cheap drinks and fun vibes, what more could you want? Here, you can begin the night with a bang without spending a fortune!

Post Mile Castle, you’re going to want to keep the vibes going and the drinks flowing, so head up the road to the infamous Dog and Parrot. Here, if you’re feeling brave, order a shot of Tiki Fire - warning, if you want to make it to the last stop of the night, just have one!

After the Dog and Parrot, head towards Bigg Market. Here, you’ll find a variety of pubs and clubs to keep you occupied this spooky season. For an evening in Newcastle’s oldest surviving pub, hit up The Old George, which on Fridays and Saturdays hosts courtyard parties with DJs and live music - a perfect combination of a pub atmosphere paired with great music.

Alternatively, if you're looking for a more upbeat vibe, a mere stone's throw away from The Old George you’ll find a lively selection of spots, including Market Shaker, Cosy Joes, The Points and Bierkeller. All are relatively affordable, with student deals running throughout Hallo-week, and all are a great laugh to carry on the evening's entertainment.

...popular events and clubs like Tropiloco, TupTup and Skint are running events throughout the week...

For those with the stamina to keep your Halloween pub crawl going, popular events and clubs like Tropiloco, TupTup and Skint are running events throughout the week to end the night with a bang.

Tropiloco is hosting Halloween themed events on Monday and Saturday at Social Club and Friday at Digital. TupTup is hosting events on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while Skint is hosting events on Thursday at The Points and Saturday at WonderBar.

Note that these events are ticketed, so to avoid disappointment this spooky season, make sure you check in advance! Alternative options like Tropicana and Popworld are also open to keep the party going with free entry!

If you want to party even harder this Halloween, why not start earlier and hit up the selection of lively bars in Jesmond, such as Osbornes, Bar Blanc and Spy Bar, before making your way into the city centre.

So that concludes my guide to making the most of Newcastle this Halloween season, whether you stick with the classic pub crawl or continue the night into the early hours, remember to stay safe and have fun!

Now all there is to do is prepare your costumes and get out on the ‘toon!
