From Rachel Green to Carrie Bradshaw, many a fashion icon found their fame in TV and have since become influential upon catwalk style. Many designers have taken inspo from characters that nations have fallen in love with.
The same can definitely be said for the iconic fashionista caricatures, Patsy and Eddy, on the timeless BBC classic Absolutely Fabulous. The car crash pair strutted onto the small screen in the early 90’s and gained a huge devoted following for their sass, hilarity and style.
Following the announcement of the pair being given a big screen debut in an Absolutely Fabulous film being released in July, we thought it would be the perfect time to honour the pair in the best way possible...with a look back at their most iconic looks.

‘Athletic Chic’ is a HUGE deal at the moment with everyone cashing in on the sportswear trend; even Queen Bey is giving it a go with Ivy Park. But this look has long been rocked by AbFab Eddy and became a staple of her ridiculous and fantastic wardrobe. She often sports open toed metallic heels with a full tracksuit in full 90’s taste giving a real nod to sporty spice.. Never one to be outshone, Patsy has become infamous for her tailored suits, beehive hair, red lips and trademark cigarette embodying every stereotype of those working in fashion.
Another staple of Eddy’s eccentric wardrobe is boho chic. These looks were mixed print and head scarves heavy, very Coachella (circa 1992 obviously). She would often be seen rolling out of her crazy wardrobe in a fabulous ensemble that would make us equally scared and impressed all at once. Patsy in turn always rocks her iconic professional tailoring which is hilariously ironic as she drinks vodka like water and smokes like a chimney. Her glamour lasted through all of the series of AbFab, and our life is a duller place without her sass. That’s why we were sooooo excited to find out about the new AbFab film. The upcoming release of the film edition of the show sees Joanna Lumley (Patsy) and Jennifer Saunders (Eddy) reprise their roles, which they haven’t filled since their last appearance in 2012. Judging by the trailer, fans can expect all the fashion related hilarity that they once loved, with cameos from the likes of Kate Moss, Rebel Wilson, Jean Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney. As for the style element, it looks like we are in for a treat as Eddy continues her miss matched boho/ sport style with patched parkas and Patsy’s iconic cigarette, red lip and hair remain with an edition of some leather and some biker-esque chain neckwear.

As much as it shouldn’t work, it just does, and so well that it’s hard to ignore the urge to burst open your wardrobe and mix prints in true Eddy fashion. The pair really are Absolutely Fabulous.
