Chocolate bark is a super speedy and customisable gift that’s guaranteed not to break the bank. Simply melt your chocolate of choice, spread a thick layer on some baking paper, and adorn with whatever your heart desires! Swirl different chocolates together for a classy marbled effect, sprinkle with edible glitter for some seasonal sparkle, or add toppings like mini marshmallows, candy canes, and dried fruits. You can always choose vegan chocolate for your plant-based friends, and design your friend’s names on their bark for that personal touch. Envelop your bark in festive tissue paper and box up for your next cosy coffee meet.
For a more interactive gift, why not make hot chocolate kits for your loved ones to warm their soul on a frosty morning? Throw their favourite hot chocolate mix and marshmallows into a cute jar and adorn it with festive decorations and a personalised gift tag. Make it more substantial by switching out the hot chocolate with the dry ingredients for cookies for a fun gift you can make together.
Chocolate truffles are another great treat for the festive season for contented friends and a satisfied wallet. Combine melted chocolate, butter, and cream, and let the mixture stand in your fridge until set. Roll into balls and top with your friend’s favourites – I recommend cocoa powder, coconut, or powdered sugar. Dust with edible glitter for that extra flare and package up for an indulgent delight.
For a delicious and decorative gift, choose your favourite gingerbread biscuit recipe and cut out some festive shapes. Use a straw to make a hole near the top of your biscuits before baking, and once cooled, unleash your inner artist and decorate your designs. Thread ribbon through the holes and tie for some charming decorations to add that special touch to your friend’s Christmas tree.
Finally, one of my personal favourite gifts is candied orange. Slice your oranges and boil for 2 minutes, then transfer into ice water. Add 4 cups of water and 4 cups of granulated sugar to a saucepan and simmer gently until the sugar has dissolved. Optionally add a stick of cinnamon for a warm winter flavour that will have your house smelling heavenly. Throw in the orange slices and simmer for 40-60 minutes, then remove and lay on parchment to dry overnight. Dip your fruit in sugar once completely dry for a frosted look, or dip in melted dark chocolate. Add string to these for a beautiful garland or adorable tree decorations! Although this recipe is a labour of love, it’s totally worth the effort, and makes a delicious addition to a winter hamper!
