Bicep, the celebrated duo from Northern Ireland, have just released their second studio album, Isles.

I'll admit I'd never heard of them before this article came around because I don't keep up with the electronic genre, but I was intrigued when I listened to a couple of the album's tracks.

Isles feels like the newer, more modern Kontinuum by Klaus Schulze. The sounds are calming and eerie, with a bit of an 80's synth feel. It's the type of music I want to listen to when contemplating existence, without shifting all the way to the feeling of being in an empty library at 1 AM. The tracks on Isles are pretty clearly grounded, and the rhythms are engaging enough to make good dance tracks. The beats make you think 'sure, I may be lost in space, but not so lost I can't party while I'm at it'.

I recommend this album to fans of dance music, Samantha James and the Mezzanine de L'Alcazar series. My favourite tracks were 'ATLAS', 'Lido', and 'Rever', although there really aren't any bad tracks on the album. That said, if you are looking for great lyrics, you will probably not find them here - vocals are minimal, which didn't bother me and actually contributed to the atmosphere. My only complaint is that more creative risks weren't taken, but that doesn't stop it from being a great album.
