Most of the songs relate to a struggle or challenge - anxieties about getting older ('Partly of My Making'), understanding new perspectives on life ('All Of Me'), feelings about the world combined with feelings about individuals ('Baby, Sleep' and 'Why Must A Building Burn?'), hard times in a relationship ('Placeholder'), wanting to be liked on social media ('Ardour'), a troublesome family relationship ('I Don't Know What I'm Doing'), an argument ('The Acid Remark') and changes in a small town ('Child of the Flatlands').
Although the album's songs relate well to themes, it's hard to determine its overarching concept, as many lyrics are somewhat confusing and difficult to relate back to the main idea of each song. The upbeat tone makes for good listening but seems incongruous with the subject matter, and even if this is the intention it feels a bit strange to listen to. Overall, though, it's a good album that will be good for plenty of spring and summer listening.
