To get into the details, Wonder is the fourth studio album by Shawn Mendes, released on December 4, 2020. Mendes first released the song ‘Wonder’ as a single followed by his song ‘Monsters’ which he collaborated with Justin Bieber on. The entire album was then released followed by his raw Netflix special, ‘In Wonder’.
Now for the actual review. If you haven’t figured out already, I am absolutely in love with this album. It is raw and genuine and meticulously put together that will bring tears to your eyes. Unfortunately, I do not have the space to deconstruct and give my opinion on every song, I will highlight my favourite, “Look Up At The Stars’. This beautiful melody was actually written by Mendes about his fans and for his fans. If you haven’t been to a Shawn Mendes show, he gives out free light wristbands that light up with the show, making the entire stadium look like the night sky which is referenced in the title and the song itself. Also, within the song, what most touched me was that he promises that though he might have to cancel a show every now and then due to health or personal reasons, his goal is to never let his fans down.
I would give this album five, or maybe one hundred, out of five stars for its beautiful construction, meaningful lyrics, and overall amazing execution.
