Starting not so strong with ‘Friends’. Don’t get me wrong it was a very popular show and still is to this day and as far as sitcoms go entertaining but if I'm being entirely honest, I don’t get the hype. Yes, it has created some iconic characters and moments but to me, it's just a regular sitcom. If we look at the storyline albeit entertaining but it didn’t really do anything other sitcoms didn’t do right?
This one again probably won’t be a very popular opinion but I just have to go for it, Modern Family. The show is a modern and inclusive piece of television, yes but in my opinion the number of awards it received was a little bit excessive.
Stranger Things is without a doubt a captivating show, the actors and the uniqueness of the show are what drew me in but it's not the first half of the show I have some critiques about. Personally, I think the overrated opinion of the show comes from how in the later series the majority of the main cast is still around.
Now I know this sounds odd because who wants their favourite characters to die or leave but I think it would add to the intensity and unpredictability of the show if they did make those bigger moves and would make the show more exciting.
I just don’t think the Americans can recreate classic British shows and do a better job.
And last but not least the American version of the office. I just don’t think the Americans can recreate classic British shows and do a better job. The heart of The Office is that British humour, it's what drags in audiences, and unfortunately, I don’t think the American version does its justice, sorry Steve Carell.
I do realise a lot of people think the American version is funnier but if you were to pick between Carrel and Gervais, I just don’t think there is any competition. Ricky Gervais delivers comedy seamlessly and smoothly that you can’t help but laugh and love the guy, well maybe not if you are American that is then you’ll probably prefer Steve Carell.
