It’s no secret that this generation has been utterly taken over by binge watching, and the days of being completely able to wait for a resolution to last week’s cliff-hanger are simply behind us.

Anxiously awaiting the end of the school day is a palpable memory from childhood for many of us, the excited anticipation for 6pm to roll around for the weekly episode of whatever show we were addicted to that week.

How we survived each week, simply waiting for the next episode is beyond me. So, from a champion binge-watcher myself, I give you my trophy room of binge-able shows to get you through the next few weeks of festivities, family gatherings and mince pies.

New Girl

New Girl’s quirky, manic-pixie dream girl, Jess Day, moves in with three men she just met in this hilarious sitcom-esc show. The episodes are totally binge-watchable with seven seasons worth of entertainment. New Girl has absolutely everything you need to cry, laugh, and awkwardly relate to when you’re facing a few boring days in bed.

The Rookie

Nathan Fillion stars as mature rookie officer, John Nolan in this police comedy drama. The Rookie is an underrated classic, my boyfriend and I recently finished it and were absolutely hooked from beginning to end. I, for one, am not a fan of police-shows generally, but this show has completely changed my tune, it’s guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and shock you to no end.

Gilmore Girls

If you haven’t watched Gilmore Girls yet, I’m sure you’ve already heard from half the people in your life to go and watch it already, and I’m here to tell you that they are absolutely right. Gilmore Girls is like a warm hug from your mum after a bad day, with a hot chocolate, while you loaf on the sofa under a blanket. It is a seven-season long love letter to the women in our lives, and if you haven’t seen it, you are missing out.

Brassic

Brassic is a very new watch for me, and very different to anything I’ve ever seen before. The only way I can think to describe it is: Outer Banks if it were set in the north of England and ever so slightly aged up the characters. This show is witty, hilarious, and completely encapsulates the small British countryside experience if you’re missing that taste of home at uni.
