Hi Lizi! What made you sign up for blind date?

I am really bad at replying to people on dating apps and have an overall aversion to meeting new people. I saw the opportunity to throw myself in the deep end through a blind date and took it.

What were your first impressions of Charlie?

I wouldn't have usually gone for someone like her - my intuition told me as I walked to the table that we were incompatible but it would go against the whole point of a blind date if we didn't try!

Did you have anything in common?

Not much! I think we are very drastically different people. It seemed that we have very different interests, hobbies, views on social issues, and religious beliefs. I think the only thing in common we had was that we were both wanting the other to be extroverted.

What did you guys talk about?

We talked about stories from our jobs, my love for Wetherspoon, religion, coming out to our families, and surprisingly a lot about Chester-le-Street.

How did you find Turtle Bay?

It felt strange not being in there for bottomless brunch, plus I'm not a huge fan of their cocktails anyway and their menu is way too big to the point where I found it really hard to choose what I wanted. Also, I'm still mad at them for not offering me a job last year.

Describe the date as one your favourite desert and why.

Tiramisu - some people love it but it definitely doesn't suit my taste.

Valentine's Day. Best holiday or commercialised nightmare, what do you think?

This year is very likely going to be the first year in my adult life spending it single so I'm not sure I'm going to be declaring it the best holiday! I definitely feel that it's overly commercialised, but this also runs for a lot of Christian holidays in the Western world. I'm a big fan of tradition but I'm not sure if Saint Valentine ever bought a heart shaped box of Lindt Lindor or that Jesus ever ate a mini egg.

Do you think you'll see each other again?

No.

How would you rate the date out of 5 stars?

2/5, I loved the adrenaline rush of the "blindness" but I felt very pressured to keep up and lead the conversation - it wasn't great doing that whilst already nervy and I think we were definitely not a great match.
