Last week, masters student Ryan met up with 5th year medical student Megan at Las Iguanas. Here's how they think their date went!
Hi Megan! What made you sign up for blind date?
A few years ago I made a promise to a friend that if I was still single in year 5 that I should apply and I keep my promises.
What were your first impressions of your Ryan?
When we first met he seemed nice and had kind eyes.
What sort of topics did guys talk about?
We talked about food, travel, family and sport. As Ryan recently moved to the UK from Hong Kong I was quite interested in finding out how he was finding the transition.
How was the restaurant and what meal did you have?
We met at Las iguanas, where I had a Brazilian curry called a moqueca de palmitate.
Describe your date as one cocktail from the menu and why?
Salted caramel martini. Classy but with a fun twist.
What did you have in common?
We both liked to travel, meet new people and learn new skills.
Do you think you’ll see each other again?
In a romantic sense probably not but I did have a fun time.
What would you rate the experience out of 5 stars?
4/5, the experience was a lot of fun.

I joined this blind dating because I have been single for quite a long time and I saw this in the newspaper I wondered why I did not give myself a chance to have a date in this new place, so I just registered it.
What were your first impressions of your Megan?
When I just met Megan, I thought she was a friendly and talkative person.
What sort of topics did guys talk about?
We talked about our daily life, habits and different things about our home town.
How was the restaurant and what meal did you have?
The lighting of the restaurant is romantic and I think it is quite suitable for dating, but the music is a bit loud and sometimes we can hear each other.
Describe your date as one cocktail from the menu and why?
If I need to describe our date as one cocktail, I would say Bull in a tequila shop, which we both like. Although the cocktail is mixed with four different wines, you can not find the taste of alcohol, just like dating,
What did you have in common?
I thought that it might be quite difficult for me, as an introverted person, to talk with another person for such a long time, but not, which is unexpected. I think that Megan and I both like to play sports and prefer to go to a pub rather than a club.
Do you think you’ll see each other again?
I think I will see her again if she wants to.
What would you rate the experience out of 5 stars?
I would undoubtedly rate the experience by 5 stars out of 5 stars.
