British Sandwich Week: which sarnie steals top spot?

Celebrating British Sandwich Week reflecting on our favourite butties

As a local, I was tempted to sing the praises of North-East favourite: the ham and pease pudding sandwich. In reality, I don’t think I’ve bought or made a ham and pease pudding sandwich in my life. If you’re a Southerner, Google pease pudding and imagine that smothered all over your ham sandwich. Yom!

Instead, I’m going for and old favourite from my school years - the beef dip. A beef dip is a highly descriptive sandwich – sliced roast beef, dipped in gravy, stuffed in between two big baps (chance would be a fine thing) or a stottie.

School lunch times were largely fuelled by these meaty bois and I still left with enough A-Levels to get into a Russell Group Uni.

Traditional butcher shops are a dying breed, but if you happen to come across one hungover doing the walk of shame, go in and order this absolute shirt-ruiner of a sandwich. It'll make you forget all about the terrible decisions you've made with your life!
