As itch.io is a digital marketplace specifically for indie games, meaning that the bundle offers a lot of games that offer unique experiences and are relatively unknown compared to larger titles. Better than that, however, is that however much you pay will be split between two charities, International Medical Corps and Voices of Children. These charities focus on medical aid and helping children cope with the horrors of war respectively.
With an initial goal of raising $1 million, the bundle has quickly reached this, and is currently exceeding the target. The average donation is almost $5 higher than the minimum requirement. Although the heavily discounted games are certainly an incentive, this shows how the gaming community can quickly rally around a good cause. The highest individual donation is currently £1,293.90.
A number of critically-acclaimed, high profile indie games are included in the bundle, such as Celeste, Wandersong and CrossCode. The variety is incredible however, as can be seen with the addition of the relaxing skateboarding adventure SkateBIRD, retro puzzle-inspired Dumpy & Bumpy and A Mortician’s Tale, a game where you control an undertaker working in a funeral home.
