First and foremost, slow it down! As a community, we need to minimise the overconsumption of clothing hauls online that are promoting us to mass order from environmentally damaging brands like SHEIN, Cider and ASOS.
Constant micro-trends and influencer brands reduce the chance of allowing us to find our own personal style and meaninglessly fill our wardrobe. Curating a sustainable wardrobe is so 2026 energy!
To dress sustainably means to shop second hand in charity shops, thrift shops and online. Online shopping on places like Vinted and Depop is a great way to affordably discover your sense of style while not buying into current trends and fast fashion.
This leads onto my next change I would like to see in 2026 which concerns colour, and a lot of it!
"We need more unusual colour combinations that reflect the messiness and creativity of our lives!"
In the year of ‘Trad-Wife Core’, ‘Ballet-Core’ and ‘Clean-Girl Aesthetic’ we saw fifty shades of beige and boring! We need more unusual colour combinations that reflect the messiness and creativity of our lives!
This could entail us getting more courageous with our makeup too, no more soft nude glow but instead blue eyeshadow and barbie pink blush. Is it clear yet we were starved of colour this year?
Swiftly moving on, I would like to raise a niche opinion to a change in fashion next year which concerns using more lace cuts of fabric to add incredible layering attributes to outfits that allow you to get as creative as possible.
Whether your New-Years Resolution next year is to dye your hair or not text your favourite situationship; one that you can definitely work on is developing your signature style.
Remember having a signature style doesn’t mean finding one aesthetic and only sticking to that but taking inspiration from several aesthetics and styles to build something sustainable and unique to you.
That’s all I could ask for in 2026 Fashion – more people discovering themselves through clothing.
