Right around the corner from campus, nestled between The Crow’s Nest and Blackwell's bookshop, is a little white building with a red awning outside. Step inside and you’ll enter Anyone Coffee - my favourite coffee shop in all of Newcastle. Walking in you’re greeted with plants and beautiful little artworks (the crocheted coffee tapestry is a personal favourite), along with some absolutely lovely staff.
The front of the café is filled by an enormous window, looking out onto St Thomas’ Church and Haymarket. It’s the perfect people-watching spot, and the view is pretty no matter the season. They have a variety of croissants, toasties, and the tastiest soup. The latte art is second to none, from swans to seahorses… anything you can imagine, they can recreate in frothed milk.
This café became my fast favourite for a very good reason. The combination of lovely staff, good coffee and soft music make it the most wonderful, welcoming atmosphere – the second I stepped foot inside, I felt perfectly at ease, and that feeling hasn’t left me for two years. It’s always cosy; it never feels cold (even though it probably is at times), and they don’t charge you extra for alternative milk. The gentle calming aura of the place makes it the perfect environment to study in but also doesn’t feel too quiet, so chatting is also an option.
So, if you’re still looking for your perfect study spot in Newcastle, I highly recommend you check this one out!
