Naturally, many fans were left disappointed by the announcement, having expected to be stepping into the world of Night City for the first time within the coming weeks. The renowned studio previously announced on 5 October that the game had finally gone gold, meaning it was feature ready and set for production.
In the statement provided by company co-founder Marcin Iwiński and head of studio Adam Badowski, it was revealed to fans that the biggest challenge facing the developers was the shipping of the game on current-gen, next-gen and PC platforms simultaneously, something that the company have never had to consider in the past.
The developers themselves expressed their confidence in the quality of the project, stating "we feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game you'll fall in love with"
“Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly,” they clarified.
Although the delay is disappointing, the wait is almost over for fans. CD Projekt Red's developers have worked tirelessly to put Cyberpunk 2077 together and it is an exciting time to see their project moving towards its highly anticipated release. Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release 10 December.
