Inspired by the way the current Premier League Darts is being played online, NUDS created their own NUDS Premier League 2020, where a range of club members, past and present, are battling it out to be crowned champion in their virtual competition played over Zoom.
21 players are competing in the tournament, a mixture of alumni and current club members, which is split into two leagues. Each week there is a round of games played in a best of twelve format, with a point for a draw and two points awarded for a win. When the league has finished, the top four participants from each league will go into a finals night aiming to win the prestigious NUDS Premier League 2020 Champion title.
So far, key players to look out for in the competition include Mark Dickinson, Richard Dennis, Lewis Nicholson, Matthew Alcindor-Day and Liam Davenport.
Player Luke Whittaker said, "We thought after the success of Target Darts game between Phil Taylor and Raymond Van Barneveld and the PDC At Home events why not? It’s great to see current members playing against past presidents. It’s brought generations of NUDS together, despite the distance, which we’ve never attempted before."
As of the time of writing, NUDS have raised £120 for NHS Charities Together. You can follow all the action on their Twitter page @NUDarts and you can donate to their cause here.
