Needless to say, we all like being tanned. Achieving that gorgeous colour and feeling like the ultimate bronzed Goddess is quite literally the goal of most girls. However, when spring arrives and we encounter the fantastically tropical temperatures resting just above the 10 degrees point, we reach a tanning fix as we wonder: how do I achieve a naturally tanned look without looking like an orange?

The biggest dilemma in this situation is knowing which brands to use and how many coats of tan to apply. I have tried many products myself and have listed my favourite subtler fake tans below, so get reading and beginning tanning yourself to create the perfect tan for spring!

Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body

Okay,  so this fake tan may be slightly more expensive than you were originally prepared to pay costing a steep £45.00, but believe me it’s worth it. Knowing as the ‘Slimmer Shimmer’, this tanning cream acts like a shapewear lingerie for the skin. It is packed with FermiProtect to make the skin firmer and to sculpt your contours, whilst its highlighter creates the ultimate glowing bronzed skin look. What is also fab about this fake tan is its method of application: all you need to do to apply the cream is roll the cooling metal massager down the centre of your limbs (which believe me feels amazing) and then to blend out the liquid evenly with your hands over your limbs. Using the massager to apply also makes the experience much less stress free as there are fewer chances of the tan going streaky which remains every girls tanning nightmare.

UTan Shimmering Gold Body Moisturiser

I know what you might think about this fake tan: that costing only £3.99 in the shops means that it’s absolutely useless, right? Wrong. I thought the exact same thing before the day I decided to try this product. Entitling this product as a ‘moisturiser’ certainly does not disappoint the consumer: the product contains Rainforest and flower extracts which massage the skin and enhance the appearance of contours, whilst helping to remove signs of stress from the skin by stimulating the release of endorphins. The Ultimo Tanning Complex, a blend of DHA’, creates a deep, rich and solid colour which remains streak-free and lasts for a longer period of time than the usual fake tan.

M.A.C Prep + Prime Golden Beauty Balm

I am absolutely in Love with this product. For me, and I’m sure for many of you girls, trying to achieve a naturally tanned look on your face using fake tan is quite hard because it tends to go very patchy and doesn’t stay on for long. I discovered this product last summer when I went in search of a new bronzer. However for me, this is better than using just a bronzer: you can blend the cream into your foundation to give your skin a subtle hue and can apply as many layers as you want depending how dark you want to look without looking ridiculous. What’s also great about this product is that you can apply it to your face just on its own, making it perfect for days on the beach when you may want to blend your face in with the rest of your tanned body, should you naturally be paler on the face.
