After 14 years of presenting This Morning, Holly Willoughby has announced that she will be ending her tenure on the show.

The longstanding presenter opted to announce her decision via social media, uploading an Instagram post stating:

“I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning…”

“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you…”

“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.”

Willoughby had recently been taking a leave of absence from the show, due to the recent conviction of Gavin Plumb, 36, who had been charged with soliciting a man to commit murder and planning to kidnap the former ITV presenter.

The 42-year-old presenter began her long-term stint with This Morning in 2009, and it was here she continued her chemistry with fellow presenter, Phillip Schofield, after co-presenting Dancing on Ice.

Willoughby and Schofield cemented their rather infectious chemistry as they would come to dominate our screens over the past decade, however both fell out of favour after their queue-jumping controversy following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

As the calendar turned to 2023, controversy would continue. Rumours began to circulate of split between the two presenters, eventually Schofield would leave This Morning during May 2023, and it would be revealed he had relations with a young male ITV employee.

Willoughby in consequence decided to take a two-week break from the show. She made her return on the 5th of June, and was quoted saying she had felt “shaken, troubled and let down”.

It is not clear as to whether she has completely cut herself off from ITV due to the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice, a show she has presented since 2006. However, possessing a career that has spanned over 20 years, it is possible Holly Willoughby will return to our screens in the future.
