Within the renowned Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the Kitchen provides a space to study by the river and immerse yourself in Newcastle’s culture. Note, with coronavirus restrictions, this café is only open from Wednesday to Sunday.
A Detour – Kiln
Located in the Ouseburn Valley and based in a working pottery, this emerging café/ bar is slightly out of central Newcastle, nevertheless certainly worth a detour. The collection of smells from coffee to woodsmoke along with its general aesthetic offers a perfect change up.
A Pit Stop – The Dispensary
Underneath ‘The View,’ this retro industrial style café is particularly convenient for those in university owned accommodation plus the Business School and the Urban Design building for its short walk. If you are into your pancakes, this one’s for you. It comes with a maple syrup syringe; I say no more.
A Classic – Olive and Bean
Unquestionably, this café/ lunch spot is the most reliable of them all. The staff are always attentive and friendly, beside a consistent menu that never disappoints on its variety and quality.
