Paralives, the Sims' biggest potential competition, is set for early access on Steam in 2025.
Paralives is an upcoming Unity engine-based life simulation game, currently in development. Paralives recently released a new short video of a gameplay overview, showing off its features, as well as publishing a Patreon post, announcing a date for early access on Steam.
The early access version targets to be released in 2025. This version will include some bugs and missing features, however the developers have promised the game will have no paid DLCs with additional content being included free of charge.
First introduced in 2019, the game gained popularity for its freedom, create-a-character and build mode features, including resizable windows, curved walls, or using a colour wheel instead of colour swatches. Create-a-character has a range of possibilities when deciding the characters’ body shape, weight, or proportions as well as giving the player almost complete freedom over the hair and clothes, resizing, rotating and moving a tattoo on the character’s body, and having the ability to layer clothing.
The new video shows the creation of the personality of your character, including perks, skills and even a ‘vibe’ where the character can be overall energetic, serious or gloomy. We are able to see a bit of a career progression for the characters, friendly and romantic interaction, but also the possibility of interactions in a group.
Paralives is an exciting project and is seen as strong competition for The Sims as it offers most of The Sims’ features like pets, weather and most importantly open world and freedom over the clothes and furniture design. All of these features are planned for the base game, and while the creators of the game admit that there is only one world to play in so far, new worlds are coming and all expansions are going to be free.

Still, the Paralives game is not yet complete and it is not clear when the final version will be available, but the creator promises an enjoyable experience for the early access players despite the potential bugs and unfinished parts of the game.
