The Rookery is a music collective that is all about bringing people who love music together! They host events all over Newcastle and Manchester and on the 16th February they have their 3rd birthday in Newcastle. To celebrate they are hosting the biggest event they’ve ever attempted!
Its a Jam Session 12pm-4pm which is all about getting musicians who want to play music together just to have a bit of a jam, few drinks and a good old chin wag about music! The Jam Session is followed by an incredible showcase Gig with some of the most exciting (and largest!) bands Newcastle’s music scene has seen in a while!
Picnic a Sunderland based ‘female lead sunny funk pop’ band grace the stage with their stunning 7 piece sound first of all. Then the 8 piece madness of Ponyland will be ripping The Cluny 2’s stage up. These lot are pure madness, they all wear animal masks and play a mix of Afrobeat, jazz, funk, reggae and drum & bass. Lastly are the headline act Agbeko. There is legit 12 people in this band everything from bass, guitar’s, maracas and full horn sections will be smashing it out the park on Saturday. These Manchester based afrobeat funker’s are on their current UK tour and want to stop by to Newcastle with The Rookery for what is shaping up to be the biggest party of the year so far!
If you are into music and you want to do/listen/enjoy it more then you NEED to get your self down to The Rookery this Saturday!
