Daniels, the directing duo behind Swiss Army Man (2016) is back with a mind-bending sci-fi weirdness and I couldn’t be more excited.

Starring the one and only Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn, a laundromat owner, who can suddenly access multiple versions of herself from every dimension and fights evil.

Did I mention that the production company behind this is A24? The same one which gave us The Lighthouse (2019), Midsommar (2019) and distributes films that never fit just one genre. It seems that Everything Everywhere(…) has the potential to bring something refreshing to the superhero/sci-fi scene not only by casting a diverse group of actors (Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan), but also by utilizing the supernatural to comment on the mundane.

I hope this will be The Matrix for hipsters

Can Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (Daniels) handle multiple dimensions, or will it get messy? They only directed one feature so far, which means that we don’t know yet what their limit is. This trailer makes me think of both Doctor Strange (2016) and Legion (2017) but with a twist that keeps you away from superhero fatigue.

My hope is that this will be The Matrix (1999) for hipsters but if I know anything about A24, it’s that their films are never what you expect and often more than you can imagine.
