Ranking TV show couples

We all have our favourite comfort characters, but what about couples? What about TV series relationships that make you giggle, cry or believe in love?

When I started the list of my favourite couples, I noted down about 15 of them, so narrowing it down to the top four has been a mighty feat, nonetheless, I am rather satisfied with the choices.  So, here is my list of top four TV show couples, in no particular order because you’d have to hold me at gunpoint to pick favourites at this point.

I will forever be a Logan girlie, therefore it is no surprise that Logan and Rory (Gilmore Girls) have got to take a place on this list. He is the best boyfriend for her, so argue with a wall if you want. He put her in her place when she was being ridiculous, he trusted her, supported her and loved her, and their dynamic was the best. It also comes as no surprise when I tell you that season 5, episode 7: ‘You Jump, I Jump, Jack’, is my favourite out of the whole series. Their banter is also the absolute best on the show, followed closely by an honourable mention of Luke and Lorelai.

This sort of enemies to lovers, without any knives included, is simply too good to pass up.

One of my favourite shows, That 70s Show, has introduced many couples to pick from, as most characters took turns dating each other. However, the best one by far, has to be Jackie and Hyde. This sort of enemies to lovers, without any knives included, is simply too good to pass up. Jackie deserved the world and Hyde was hopelessly in love with her, of course denying it for a few good episodes, but ultimately succumbing to her charms. Their chemistry was by far the best and the most believable out of all the Jackie pairings the show introduced, and in my eyes, they are well and happy together.

A morally grey character willing to let the world burn if only to save her.

Going off of this list, I seem to have a tendency to like couples that don’t share a happy ending, take from that what you will. But, the next one on the list is Klaus and Caroline from The Vampire Diaries. A morally grey character willing to let the world burn if only to save her. Yes, that is the vibe of these two, and if it weren’t for the showrunners' fear of 'Klaroline' overshadowing 'Delena' (Damon and Elena), these two would have gotten their happy-ever-after. Quite literally too, as both are immortal.

If I’d truly have to pick a favourite, to whom I’d wish a happy ending, since none of these couples actually get one, I’d have to go with Aziraphale and Crowley. After 6,000 years of slow burn and friendship and forbidden apples (pun intended), what’s not to love? Season two has destroyed me as nothing else ever - I was deep into Good Omens therapy TikTok for over three months after its end. The way they protect each other, subtly let each other know they love the other, and go against Heaven and Hell just to be near one another, makes them the most deserving couple of a happy ending on this list.
