Going out with your friends on Valentine's Day, and reclaiming it to Galentine's or Malentine's day is one of the best ways to celebrate your friendships on a day designed for sharing love. Wearing that outfit that seems really extra is a must - and this year I opted for a little red dress as my statement piece.
It feels strange writing about an outfit you wore yourself, but sometimes a little bit of reflection and a pinch of self love is needed. With New York Fashion Week branding 'The Red Queen' one of this season's runway trends, it really was the perfect year to wear red. Think Diana's black revenge dress, but in red.
Whilst I did like my little red dress, I didn't think it would be enough to escape the boundaries of a basic outfit. Therefore, I paired it with a blazer that was almost the same length, black sheer tights, and a pair of heeled black boots. To complete the look, and so I didn't freeze, I added a black wool longline trench coat. Whilst this arguably would have been enough, I also added a faux pearl necklace and red earrings to accessorise.
Whatever your next event is, whether a birthday, a dinner or something else, don't be afraid to dress up. There's nothing wrong with being the most dressed up, and it probably also means you're the best dressed there. And lastly, some outfits aren't put on with the intention of revenge, but if it makes someone think they messed up, then revenge has been secured without you even trying.
