The film is an enjoyable watch for anyone who wishes to enjoy a contemporary musical with a hint of comedy. Even though the film is it is advertised as a children’s movie, it is a watch that will entertain individuals of all ages. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, explores various facets of being an artist and experiencing loneliness within the big city. The film introduces Lyle, a baby crocodile who meets an aspiring showman called Hector P. Valenti. Valenti and Lyle create a bond over the years and yearn to put up a performance together. Unfortunately, their dreams are crushed on stage when Lyle encounters stage fear and is unable to perform. Valenti is forced to leave Lyle in the city while he goes out to pick up the pieces on his own. Eventually, Lyle meets a new family that just moved into Manhattan. With twists, turns, and tunes Lyle becomes a part of the new family he has found.
Whilst the film displays a very inspirational and emotional tale of this reptile does also come off a little rushed. The movie span a total of one hour and 46 minutes, yet it does rush at a few spots to cover all of the life events of Lyle and the other characters. The film does manage to wrap up the events concisely, yet it does leave you wanting more details about the supporting characters. As I watched the film, I was eager to know more about Mr. and Mrs. Primm and many other characters that were introduced with interesting subplots. Hopefully, there is a sequel to the film that does venture into talking about these characters.
