As Easter rapidly approaches, it's no secret that for a lot of people the holiday is defined by one aspect: chocolate. Store-bought chocolate easter eggs are the tradition, but certainly not the most exciting option during this time period.
Sweet treats should truly take over as the definition for Easter, including cakes, caramels, and a whole lot more. This sweet treat recipe is family tried and tested and not reserved for those who can cook. It's a stress-free, no bake delight to avoid the holiday stress saved for the rest of the year.
Ingredients:
100g Butter
100g Dark Chocolate
2tbsp Golden Syrup (or a prolonged squeeze of the bottle)
225g Digestive Biscuits
4 bags of Mini Eggs
Preparation:
In a pan, melt together the butter, dark chocolate, and syrup in a sauce pan until combined as one liquid, stirring consistently as it melts. This extra step seems inconsequential however it will stop the chocolate from burning.
Crush up your digestive biscuits and two bags of Mini Eggs until they are broken into a variety of sizes and pour into the melted mixture then stir together.
In a pyrex dish greased with either greaseproof paper or butter, pour the completed mixture in and flatten into the dish. This is your uncooked chocolate cake.
On top of the mixture, crush and add the remaining two bags of Mini Eggs.
Place the dish in the fridge or in a cool room, leave for an hour or until cooled before serving.
Cut into bitesize pieces and enjoy the stress free uncooked treat!
