The short film centres on everyone's favourite green child, Grogu, who we will be reunited with on the release of the third season of The Mandalorian early 2023.
This is not Disney's first collaboration with Japanese anime studios; Star Wars: Visions was released in 2021 with each episode in a unique anime style. Tales of the Jedi was released last month and was animated in the same style as Dave Filoni's seven season The Clone Wars series and the accompanying film and the spin-off The Bad Batch. It's an animation style we have gotten used to seeing. With many companies sacrificing their animation departments, we can only hope Disney will continue to explore, invest and collaborate.
