Genuinely one of the cutest games I have played in a long time. Released in 2022, this online hide and seek game is a great one to play with friends. All the assets are lovingly hand sculpted using clay, definitely adding to the charm. While the base game only includes a couple set modes, the main principle of Just Act Natural is to blend in with lots of NPCs waddling round the arena, and gain points by being undetected by the seeker during challenges.
This franchise easily slots into the list of cosy games without a doubt. For those who still own a 3DS, playing New Leaf may be just what you need to take your mind off university. With this game being the first of the series to make YOU the mayor of the town, giving you lots of creative freedom for helping villagers, decorating, and exploring your surroundings. But in general, games like Happy Home Designer, New Horizons (recently updated) and even Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp provide a lovely warm feeling while playing, although not when you’re being chased by spiders in the dark.
In this extremely satisfying game, it is your goal to organise various household messes or day-to-day relatable situations into neat and tidy positions. With over 100 different puzzles to solve, and a cute cat sometimes getting in the way, it’s the perfect game to sit back and relax to. And for an extra challenge, most levels includes a separate challenge where you may need to find alternate ways of “organising” the objects in play…
The Jackbox Party Pack series is something I would ALWAYS recommend playing with friends and family at any given moment. Each pack consists of 5 separate party games, with a mix of genres including drawing, typing, speaking, trivia, comedy and more. My favourite packs are 3 and 6, including fan-favourites like Trivia Murder Party, Quiplash and Push the Button (an Among Us style deception game). A new pack (11) has just been released; and best of all, each game is played using your phone as the controller!
On a slightly different spin on “gaming,” we can’t ignore card/board games! Tidy the Library is a card game where all you need to do is place book titles in order from earliest to latest year of release. Books can range from The Jungle Book to The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and even with very little knowledge of literature it’s still a very simple game to pick up.
