Buying makeup on a budget can be quite difficult but not impossible
When we look towards higher-end brands, we would go to retailers such as Fenwicks or John Lewis but you would have to be willing to part with a lot of money. Instead of going to these retailers, go to your local Boots or Superdrug! Drugstore brands are not only affordable, but have some hidden gems that work the same, if not better than high-end brands. There are lots of options, and the shade ranges are typically good too, drugstores are the ‘go-to’ for your makeup needs on a budget!
2. Buy dupes
For every high-end product, there will always be a dupe somewhere. If you can get a good product for less, always opt for spending less! There are many dupes out there that can do the same job, if not better than other high-end brands for a cheaper price. They can be hard to identify sometimes, so turning to the internet and social media can point you in the right direction.
3. You never need as much as you think you do
Makeup can be quite daunting since there is so much you can get that has different roles: foundation, concealer, contour, bronzer blush, etc. The trick is that you do not always need to buy all these separately, make use of everything you have! A product’s name does not mean it should be used solely for that purpose: you can use dark eyeshadow colours as contour, bronzer for your eyebrows, reds, pinks and oranges for blush. You can even use lipsticks for blush, the possibilities are endless! Always make do with what you have, see if you can use it for other things as well, particularly if you can’t follow the tips above.
Personally, I am no expert at makeup, but a few affordable brands that I swear by include LA girl (the concealer especially), Elf, Nyx and Makeup Revolution, all of which can be bought in drugstores or online for affordable prices.
I hope the tips can help you to navigate the world of makeup on a budget and happy shopping!
