What has made me angry this week: Blocked sinks

Blocked sinks.

Blocked sinks. Like the rest of us this week, our household appliances also packed in, leaving us with a leaky sink and broken hoover. After discovering we had Covid, with an infectious house and plumbing not our strongest point, we were left to cope on our own. An ungodly amount piled dishes later and a call to Gavin (My housemate’s engineer dad) we still wait for Paul – our somewhat lovely landlord to save us.

In school we were taught textiles, cooking, and woodworks, but why not how to unblock a sink?

Left to wash our pans in the bath until further notice, I couldn’t help but question, why have I never been taught how to unblock a sink? In all my 20 years of life, it dawned on me that my practical life skills are seriously slacking. In school we were taught textiles, cooking, and woodworks, but why not how to unblock a sink? How can a house of eight girls not know this very basic skill?

Frustrations turned to culprit, a spaghetti connoisseur who had been unloading their dishes down the drain. As much as I should blame our lack of plumbing expertise as the problem here, the real question is, who even has spaghetti over penne anyway?
