Dune: Part Two is the highly-anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster epic Dune (2021). The film releases in November of this year, and will feature an ensemble cast packed with A-list stars. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård and Javier Bardem all return from the first movie. Along with Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Léa Seydoux, joining the cast for Part Two.

The recently released teaser trailer for Dune: Part Two gives us a good idea of what to expect from this sequel. The teaser opens on Paul (Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) bonding, following the ending of Part One. In a recent interview, director Villeneuve said “the epicentre of the story is this relationship” and “if we don’t capture that … there’s no movie.” But the standout moment of this teaser comes near the end, with a thrilling sequence of Paul attempting to ride one of Arrakis’ mighty sandworms – a rite of passage needed to become a member of the Fremen.

While the trailer mainly focusses on Paul, we do see glimpses of the rest of the cast. We get our first looks at Princess Irulan (Pugh); Margot Fenring (Seydoux); and Feyd-Rautha (Butler), who appears in a visually distinct, black and white sequence.

One of my most controversial film opinions is that I wasn’t a huge fan of Villeneueve’s first Dune movie – I found it dull and unsatisfying. However, after watching the teaser for Part Two, I have to say, I’m actually quite excited for it, as it looks like a step up from the first part in nearly every way.

Dune: Part Two releases exclusively in cinemas on November 3rd!
