Nights are getting colder and the urge to stay in, bundle up, and have a cosy movie night is getting stronger. No movie night is complete without a fun snack to enjoy as the film scrolls, so it’s time to head to the supermarket.

You could always go for your standard popcorn in your kitchen but, if you’re going to officially label your evening as a ‘movie night’, it’s probably time to step up your game. So, here are some cozy movies with some tasty treats to accompany them:

Fantastic Mr. Fox

This charming claymation movie centers around a lot of meat but it would be a little odd if I suggested some of the diets described, such as three boiled chickens and goose liver paste donuts. Instead, I’ll suggest some blueberry pancakes, inspired by the blueberries Mr. Fox gives to the beagles, minus the tranquilizer powder of course. Next, we’ll go for Bean’s drink of choice: apple cider. You can have alcoholic or non-alcoholic, up to you. If you’re still looking for something savoury after seeing so much poultry, I suggest some salt and vinegar crisps.

The Parent Trap

This is one of the best feel-good movies, in my opinion, and has a fairly simple meal to go along with it. For your main component, I would go with chilli with cornbread, the welcome-home food Chessy offers to “Hallie” when she returns from camp. As a little dessert, you have to have Hallie and Annie’s favorite shared snack, Oreos and peanut butter. I’d personally go for Peanut Butter Oreo Cakesters to save the dipping action but, I have failed to find these in the UK *cries in USA*. To top it off, have a nice glass of wine and pretend that it came from Nick Parker’s gorgeous vineyard.

Matilda

The last movie that I will always make time to rewatch is Matilda. While much of the food that appears are microwave meals that Matilda’s family seem to love, I’m going to suggest a little makeshift afternoon tea. Matilda enjoys tea with Miss Honey a few times and their relationship is partially what makes this movie so sweet. Add a few finger sandwiches of your choice, perhaps something with carrots, like the one Matilda telepathically shoots back at her brother. For dessert, you can have a slice of Miss Trunchbull’s super fudgey, chocolate cake, but, you don’t have to eat an entire cake, like Bruce. Unless you want to. I’d be pretty impressed, to be honest.

I hope this inspired you for your next movie night! You can always make popcorn or order a pizza, I won’t judge, but, I think having a snack related to your movie makes the experience just a little more magical. Enjoy snacking and watching!
