Laugh tracks: Though I am a fan of Friends because of the nostalgia it brings for me, I can’t stand laugh tracks. I don’t want anyone telling me when to laugh, and as it is often overpowering, I can’t focus on the rest which just ruins it. The Big Bang Theory is my biggest example for it. The laughs are way too loud and happen way too often that it simply ruins scenes that could otherwise be quite funny.
Unplanned Pregnancies: Just no, gross, get away.
Failed couples: When that one couple that you’d give everything to see together finally does it and they lose their amazing chemistry and banter. Please let couples also be best friends. On a bored afternoon I started watching Superstore and I was hooked by the chemistry that Amy and Jonah had so I kept watching. I kept watching until they got together, which was already too long. And then, nothing. The couple was flat, their relationship felt forced and unrealistic, it just ruined it for me and I never finished.
Miscommunication: If it’s done in a humorous way, then I love it. But if it is in a romantic way, it’s always badly done and I will become bored. In The Summer I Turned Pretty, that happens too much. I’ve lost interest. I will watch the next season but I have lost interest.
Ruining character development: Usually done for the sake of plot, it sucks. When a character goes through six seasons, grows up from their experiences and becomes the best version of themselves it is fun, it shows intricate writing. But ruining that for a couple funny plots when you run out of ideas in the last season is a big turn off. I’m looking at you Friends’ writers and what you did to Joey.
