The past year has been fabulous for TV, with a diverse range of original shows and series hitting our screens. From stalker dramas and dragons to drug dealers and unrequited desire, here's a list of my top TV shows from this year...

1) Baby Reindeer- Undoubtedly, one of the best and most original TV series of the year was Richard Gadd's Baby Reindeer. Released on Netflix in April, it quickly became one of the most-watched shows, gaining a rating of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. I was a bit late to watch Baby Reindeer, but it didn't disappoint; the beautifully written, well-acted and incredibly raw and honest story deserved the incredible reaction it received.

2) The Traitors (Series 2)- In January of this year, the long-awaited second series of The Traitors was released on BBC One. This series saw a fresh (and frankly, more likeable) cast, taking on the hidden Traitors for a chance to win the cash prize. With Claudia Winkleman's wonderful hosting, the many twists and turns and the intensely close final, this year's series of The Traitors had me on the edge of my seat. I'm very excited about the show's return in January...

3) One Day- If there was an award for the most heart-breaking show of the year, Netflix's One Day, takes the prize. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, One Day takes us on a 14-year journey, showing the best and worst of the two main characters, Emma and Dexter, as they explore their ever-evolving relationship. It made me laugh, feel hopeful, and ugly cry- the sign of a great TV show!

4) The Gentlemen- One of the most surprising series of the year was Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen. As someone who wouldn't normally choose to watch a show about drugs and gangs (though Theo James was a selling point...) I was surprisingly hooked. It was more than just a show about weed, exploring the complexities of family relationships and class structures.

5) Bridgerton (Season 3)- The long-awaiting third season of Bridgerton was an instant hit. Though I agree that the third season wasn't as good as the second season (it would have been hard to beat), I was still enthralled by the Bridgerton universe and was excited to see Nicola Coughlan have her moment in the spotlight.

6) House of the Dragon (Season 2)- The next show on this list is HBO's House of the Dragon's second series. Season 2, released in June, saw Rhaenyra take her rightful place on the Iron Throne, much to the distaste of her enemies. I enjoyed being transported back into Westeros and the magical world of dragons and drama.

7) Rivals- Though released much later in the year, the raunchy and fabulous Rivals was a sensation. Starring a diverse cast of actors, from David Tenant to Danny Dyer, Rivals was a thrilling watch from start to finish (I, like many people, binged the entire series in 2 days and was desperate for more...) I read one review that said this show is like a 'Sexier, more British Saltburn' and that couldn't be more correct.

Wrapping up 2024, it's been an amazing year for TV. With any luck 2025 will be just as great...
