As I pour myself a cup of tea and light the first candle of the season all I can think about is the upcoming autumn fashion. When the warm air turns into a light breeze, I get out my sweaters and jackets and can’t wait to start layering my outfits.
Autumn for me (and arguably many other people) is all about layers upon layers of clothes while feeling very aesthetic as I walk with colourful leaves falling around me. After a warm summer of wearing very basic outfits that consisted of a shirt and shorts, I am more than thrilled to take out all my scarfs and wear them religiously.
Some autumn staples that will definitely not be missing in my wardrobe are sweaters. I am a sucker for them, own about a ton of them and have been waiting to wear them again for months now.
In my humble opinion, during autumn you can’t go wrong with a jacket, leather or denim or even a nice sport jacket is all autumn outfits should be about. Paring my jackets with sweaters does bring me incredible joy every morning. And when the weather turns even colder towards the end of autumn, I am happy to trade my leather jacket in for a coat. That way you can feel as if you are wrapped in a blanket on your way to campus.
No autumn outfit would be complete without a scarf, and I stand by that. It adds a bit of flare to anything you are wearing. And now that crocheted clothes are becoming more and more popular, you can see me wear my crocheted scarf with every outfit.
Something I am still missing in my closet that I believe is the epitome of autumn fashion are high boots. As you can pair them with skirts, dresses or trousers and they also keep you warm, they are absolutely ideal for the colder months. I am still on the hunt for my perfect pair.
One thing I don’t wear that often but is very autumn-esque are skirts. Just imagine that one outfit, a plead skirt (or any other), stockings, high boots, a sweater and a scarf. That is probably as autumn as an outfit can get. And now that I think about it, I should wear skirts more often.
