We hit the road at 4:45pm on Friday, and after an incredibly long journey, finally arrived at about 1am on Saturday morning! We pitched up our tents in the dark and headed off to sleep ready for a full day of activities on Saturday.
Saturday morning arrived and we were up bright and early for cooked breakfast and catching up with friends from universities all over the country. We then hopped on coaches and headed into Portsmouth, where some of us faced a Monopoly Run, which is a race to collect as many points by visiting specific landmarks on a Monopoly board. Others explored the Historic Dockyards and some went for a stroll around the city. We enjoyed a packed lunch on the grass in the sunshine outside Portsmouth SU and then headed off for more activities in the afternoon. Many of us visited the arcades and went for a game of mini golf while others continued looking at boats and exploring the city.
We partied the night away with other students from all over the country, until eventually going to bed, ready for what Sunday had in store.
After a long day in Portsmouth, we headed back to the campsite for a tea of incredibly spicy fajitas! Food eaten, it was time for the regular Saturday night traditions. First, a ceilidh, where none of us knew what we were doing, as per usual! Then, a campfire – this time featuring colourful flames – and finally a silent disco! We partied the night away with other students from all over the country, until eventually going to bed, ready for what Sunday had in store.
Some of us had an early wake up to attend reps, a meeting of students from all the different universities to discuss matters relating to the National Organisation. Then, it was time for the annual SSAGO AGM where the governing body of SSAGO and national events for the following year are elected. Club photos were taken and tents taken down, and it was then time to get back on the road up to Newcastle. By 9pm, we were all safely back home and already excitedly thinking about the next camp, thanks for a great weekend, Port-A-Rally!
