In my opinion, the perfect book for the winter season is undoubtedly Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott. Just like the film, it epitomises those cosy, Christmas-y vibes and counts as a literary classic! Except, obviously, the book is better than the film (although unfortunately without Timothee Chalamet).
Little Women is full of familial love and comfort as well as feminine struggle to be more than a wife, a mother, all encapsulated within the March family home in a wintry little American village during the 1860s. The four March daughters are all wonderfully individual, and embody the often frustrating but ultimately unbreakable bond that sisters have, as they all struggle to achieve their dreams, whether that be to be a wife, or a writer, or a painter.
This coming-of-age novel is overflowing with feel-good moments, and of course some emotionally devastating ones, making it the perfect read for the winter season. It is the definition of a comfort book, and undoubtedly worth cuffing!
